Frequently asked questions
What is Chess960 / Shuffle Chess?
Chess960 (also called Fischer Random) uses all the normal rules of chess, but the back-rank pieces start on shuffled squares — one of 960 legal arrangements. Castling still works, and there's almost no opening theory to memorize.
Is it free?
Yes. The app is free to play.
Does it work offline?
Completely. The game and the computer opponent run on your device, so no internet connection is required.
How do I start a shuffled game?
Start a new game from the home screen and choose the Chess960 / Shuffle variant. Each new game gives you a fresh starting position.
How strong is the computer opponent?
It runs locally on your device and includes three difficulty settings, from casual to challenging.
How is my privacy handled?
